Step #5:
Prayer:
Communicating
with God
““Who can know the Lord’s thoughts?
Who knows enough to teach him?”
Who knows enough to teach him?”
But we understand these things,
for we have the mind of Christ.
1
Corinthians 2:16 NLT
Primary Purpose of Prayer is connecting with
God in order to transfer His Will into your life
v READ: Matthew 6:5-8
Prayer Is:
v A
personal conversation with God Almighty that includes expressing our concerns and listening to His responses
v Our prayer is to gain His perspective (the mind of Christ) 1 Corinthians 2:16
LESSON #1:
Prayer was the 1st Priority
1I urge
you, first of all, to pray for all people.
Ask God to help them; intercede on their
behalf,
and give thanks for them.
2 Pray
this way for kings and all who are in authority
so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives
marked
by godliness and dignity.
3 This is
good and pleases God our Savior,
4 who
wants everyone to be saved and to understand
the truth.” 1
Timothy 2:1-4 NLT
LESSON #2: Foundation of a Church
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching,
and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s
Supper), and to prayer.”
Acts 2:42 NLT
LESSON #3: Prayer
is Ministry
2 So the Twelve called
a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time
teaching the word of God, not running a food program. 3 And so,
brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit
and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility.
4 Then we apostles can spend
our time in prayer and
teaching the word.” Acts 6:1-4 NLT
v Dedication to prayer reveals maturity
v
When
each Elder has his aligned with God’s will ~ we don’t waste time arguing
LESSON #4: Worry About Nothing
Pray
About Everything
“ Can all your worries add a single moment
to your life?” Matthew
6:27 NLT
4 Always be full of joy
in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that
you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
6 Don’t worry about
anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and
thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s
peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your
hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7 NLT
