A
few years ago, I read a newspaper article that reported a armored truck heist
in California where someone stole a whole truck load of nickels. Do I need to
even ask? What would anyone want with 2 million dollars in nickels?
Today,
something even more weird is in the news. 4 women's badminton teams were
disqualified because..... get this.... for intentionally trying to loose.
I
watched NBC's rerun of these world class badminton teams (which is kinda
amusing in the first place -- badminton -- dodge ball would be more
competitive) whacking the "birdie" under the net....
Intentionally.
Then the Olympic big-heads issued a press release stating that there would be "No Refunds" to the poor saps that paid good money for tickets to watch the riveting breathtaking badminton match. Sorry, I am still amused that badminton is an Olympic sporting event.
An ironic twist occurred during the China verses South Korea match. Both teams were trying to lose. So the players performed worse and worse as they raced to the bottom. It was a historic moment in Olympic history. Eventually the Chinese proved to be better at loosing than the South Koreans. Isn't that simply "sad"?
What
caught my attention in this news story was the event judges were aware of what
was going on, repeatedly stopped the matches and issued warnings, which were ignored.
One of the event judges walked onto the floor and waved black disqualification flags at the Chinese team, trying to motivate them to do what their country sent them there to do ~ WIN. To no avail. They continued to drive the match into infamy and disgrace.

The layers of spiritual applications are endless. So I will select one that is glaringly obvious. In fact, just for something new, I will give you the Bible verse and you figure out the spiritual application.
"If
you reject discipline, you only harm yourself;
but
if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding."Proverbs 15:32 NLT
Think God has a lesson here for you & me?
Let
me ask you the fifty dollar question,
Then
I will let you get back to watching TV:
"Have you given God's Word the authority to
change your life, your thoughts, your attitudes, your actions, your
relationships?"
Before
you answer that, think about this, "God is always good -- in every
situation -- always working to bring about the best possible result".
So
do you trust Him....?
If
you reach for your Bible and open it.... (check out Proverbs ~ I like Proverbs)..... that is the
first step to trusting God.
I'm
praying for you....
