 “Who am I before God?” series

Study of the Book of Ephesians 2:10
“God’s Amazing Masterpiece”

“For we are God’s workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus
to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do”

 #1.  God’s Role

1.     What does “workmanship” mean?                  
Greek literally means “that which has been made”              
we get the English word: POEM
a.     The Greek word for POET is “maker”
b.     In Greek “poem” was ANY work of art
c.     “God’s masterpiece work of art”
d.     READ: Psalm 19:1 & Genesis 1:27

2.     The ULTIMATE workmanship of God is….                 
“…anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.
The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”                            
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT

3.     God’s TOOLs are: Jesus Christ ~ Holy Spirit  ~ God’s Word ~ solid Bible Preaching ~ Godly counsel from spiritually mature Believers

#2.  Man’s Responsibility to God

1.     God pleasing attitudes & God pleasing actions flow from an authentic transformed life

2.     The PURPOSE of John 3:16 was NOT to produce happiness in the sinner but rather the demonstration of God’s Grace for all eternity

3.     GREATEST PROOF of Salvation is the fruit of God’s GOOD WORKS flowing through that person ~  John 15:1-8

4.     “Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” Colossians 1:10-11 NLT

5.     “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self- control….” Galatians 5:22-26 NLT

 6.   “When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples.      

This brings great glory to my Father”            John 15:8 NLT
