The Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?"
Satan answered the Lord, "From roaming throughout the earth,
going back and forth on it."
"Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job?
There is no one on earth like Him; he is blameless and upright,
a man who fears God and shuns evil." Job 1:7
I thought Monday morning would be an appropriate time for us to
look at life from God's perspective.
Imagine this, you are faithfully doing your best to serve God and live
a life that pleases Him. God looks at your heart and finds you humble
and honest in your worship.
So what does He do?
God basically makes a wager with Satan. The terms of the wager is,
Satan can destroy your life, kill everyone you love, bankrupt your
business -- he just can't take your life. You must live through the ordeal.
And what will this prove?
This ordeal will reveal your true motive for worshipping God.
Satan told God that Job only worshipped Him because God spoiled him rotten.
God told Satan that Job faithfully worshipped Him out of a pure heart.
NOTICE that God does NOT let Job in on the wager. Job is left in the dark.
God is not accountable to us. He does not have to explain His actions to us.
Just because we don't understand what He is doing in our lives, does not mean
that He can't be trusted. Believe this, "God is always good in every circumstance".
The story of Job should make you sit back and reflect. There are life changing
Truths at work in this story. So, for today, my observation is this,
"This really had nothing to do with Job and had everything to do with
God getting the respect, honor, and glory that is rightfully His."
How often when something happens in our life, do we look in a mirror and
assume that God is doing something to me for my benefit.
How about a Monday morning perspective. Consider that when God is
at work in my life, perhaps the motive is for someone else's benefit or
even better, for God's benefit. It is not always all about me. As much as I
want to believe I am the center of the universe, I'm not.
So my challenge for you this Monday morning is:
"Does God trust you enough to turn Satan loose on you?"
If God dangled you and your life in front of Satan,
how would you respond?
Would your actions and attitudes give God glory? Or....
